Every (engaged) girl dreams of her wedding dress, and often those dreams become nightmares on the first visit to a bridal boutique and you spy the pricetags. But fear not ladies, wedding dresses don’t have to cost a bomb, there are loads of beautiful dresses available for tighter budgets and we’ve made it our mission to find them for you. Over the next while we’re going in search of the best places to find gorgeous wedding dresses that won’t break the bank. For this first post, we set a budget of €500 and went (window)shopping…
A Little Less Traditional Wedding Dress
For a designer diva on a budget this Diane Von Furstenberg is as individual as any bespoke wedding gown and costs just €363.
If you haven’t checked out the bridal collection at Monsoon yet, get on your shoes and start running, this beautiful embroidered and beaded chiffon gown is just €250!
A wedding wouldn’t be complete without a Coast dress, though usually it’s a guest or bridesmaid, but this gorgeous strapless jersey dress with floral garland is perfect for a bride and is under budget at €380.
A Full-On Wedding Gown for a Fraction of the Cost
The main reason most wedding dresses seem so expensive is that they’re made to order – obviously enough something that’s bespoke will cost a lot. So if you’re on a budget, and unless you have a great friend or family member who is a dressmaker and willing to work for free, it’s time to start thinking beyond the traditional ordered dress. However, this group of dresses shows that you don’t have to sacrifice the full-length, white, princess dream dress on account of cost.
BCBG Max Azria is a great label for women of all shapes, sizes and styles and their bridal gowns don’t disappoint either – the open back pleated dress is €410 and the sequin-necked drop waisted wedding dress is €400.
A lot of brides-to-be head over to New York to find a bargain dress, well no need ladies, Nordstrom deliver to Ireland now, and this Tadashi Shoji dress costs €405 and no airfare!
Sophisticated Wedding Column Dresses
For a traditional, yet not princessy look, how about one of these column-style dresses? First there’s Nicole Miller‘s shimmering one shoulder look for around €480.
Perfect for a more casual, or beach wedding this white jersey dress from T-Bags is ?195 so not a tragedy if you go for a swim in it!
Last but not least a simple but chic sheath dress from Phase Eight with circle detailing would leave you with plenty of change for a nice pair of heels cos it’s just €400.
Lots More Gorgeous Dresses for Brides on a Budget to come…
This is just a small sample of the huge selection out there, so don’t panic if you don’t want to spend 1000s on a dress for one day. Over the next few weeks we’ll be out doing the research for you on the alternatives: buying off the rack (and having altered) at a bridal boutique; vintage or pre-owned dresses; buying online or going for a totally different non-traditional non-white dress
